Every layer of child protection, documented

We align with the DfE's Voluntary National Standards for Non-School Alternative Provision and with KCSIE 2026. The commissioning school retains full safeguarding responsibility for every pupil placed with us.

KCSIE 2026 Aligned

All safeguarding policies, procedures, and training are fully aligned with the latest Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance.

Named DSL & Deputy

A trained Designated Safeguarding Lead and deputy hold documented, biannual Level 3 DSL training. They are the first point of contact for any concern.

Single Central Record

A comprehensive SCR is maintained for every staff member, tutor, and mentor — including Enhanced DBS, Barred List clearance, and Section 128 checks.

Safer Recruitment

All staff are recruited following Safer Recruitment best practice — structured interviews, multi-agency reference checks, and gap analysis on every application.

30-Minute Absence Notification

If a pupil fails to arrive or leaves early, the commissioning school's DSL is notified within 30 minutes. Absences are followed up urgently to ascertain the reason.

CPOMS / MyConcern Reporting

All safeguarding concerns, low-level worries, and behavioural incidents are logged on integrated CPOMS or MyConcern and shared with the commissioning school.

Data Protection (ICO/GDPR)

We are ICO-registered and fully GDPR-compliant. Pupil data is stored securely, shared only with the commissioning school and authorised agencies, and retained per our data retention policy.

Complaints & Whistleblowing

Clear, accessible complaints and whistleblowing procedures ensure that children, parents, carers, and staff can raise concerns — including anonymously — with confidence.

Annual Staff Training

Every permanent staff member completes annual safeguarding training, with biannual Level 3 DSL training for our Designated Safeguarding Lead and deputy. Induction covers child protection, behaviour policy, and the staff code of conduct. Temporary staff and volunteers receive a safeguarding briefing before any session begins.

Site Security & Risk Assessment

Our Safe Space is restricted to pupils, Senique staff, and supervised visitors only, with check-in and check-out procedures. For community-based sessions, dynamic venue risk assessments are completed for each setting — considering the child\'s needs, local factors, and environmental risks.

Safeguarding

Our uncompromising approach to child safety, safeguarding, and quality control — built into every session.
