Alternative Provision in the East Midlands

Alternative provision (AP) is education arranged for children and young people who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to attend mainstream school full time. Across Nottinghamshire and the wider East Midlands, schools, academy trusts, and local authorities commission alternative provision to support pupils whose needs cannot be fully met within a traditional classroom setting — whether because of anxiety, trauma, neurodivergent conditions such as ASC and ADHD, emotionally-based school avoidance (EBSA), or complex social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

T Toddles Ltd provides specialist, unregistered alternative provision and education services designed to sit alongside a child's mainstream placement rather than replace it. Our provision is part-time and complementary, delivered through 1:1 academic tuition, SEN and SEMH mentoring, and therapeutic Safe Space sessions in a calm, sensory-aware environment. We work in close partnership with the commissioning school, which retains full safeguarding and registration responsibility, ensuring that every young person remains connected to their wider educational journey while receiving the bespoke support they need to re-engage with learning.

Effective alternative provision in the East Midlands must be trauma-informed, relationship-led, and grounded in genuine understanding of each child's individual circumstances. Our approach brings together qualified teaching staff, specialist mentors, and a leadership team that unites academic expertise with operational rigour. We support Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and the surrounding areas, offering GCSE and Functional Skills pathways alongside PSHE and life-skills development. Every placement is tailored, every session is bespoke, and every outcome is measured — because re-engagement is not a single moment but a carefully supported journey back to confidence, stability, and achievement.
